Policy controls

Using ‘Spydus style’ policies access to third party sources can be easily be created as (for example):

• Available to all
• Available only to users within the library
• Available only to logged on users
• Available only to selected logged on users

For sources that (for example) have limits on the total number of concurrent users, Blis creates individual items to be separately issued and returned.

Authentication and security

Blis manages a host of techniques required for authentication and security access of third party sources, including for example address rewriting, multiple username and password schemes, md5 based hash algorithms, named IP address ranges managed via proxy.

Accessing Blis content

Once set up in Blis, staff and patrons have a wide variety of simple means to access and manage the Blis digital objects:

• Spydus, Exhibit, VLTrek
• Sorcer
